China underlined its dominance at the Asian Canoe Slalom Championships, winning almost all of the gold medals on offer on home waters. 

Competing in Xiasi, Guizhou, the Chinese team proved too strong with Xueting Xie bagging four titles and Liman Huang completing a golden hat-trick. 

China stamped its authority on proceedings from the opening day as Xie came out on top in the women’s kayak final.  

Not even a two-second penalty could deny Xie as she triumphed in 108.84. 

Chinese Taipei picked up two medals with Ting-I Wu and Chu-Han Chang clinching silver and bronze, respectively. 

Huang clinched China’s second gold in the men’s K1 as he got the win in 96.36. 

He overcame two Uzbek paddlers as Djanibek Temirgaliev sealed silver and Pavel Eigel bagged bronze. 

There was a Chinese one-two-three in the women’s canoe final led by Jingyue Liao.

A winning margin of 0.53 saw Liao claim top spot as Yanzhi Huang came second and Xinyi Zhou rounded off the top three. 

The men’s C1 final also ended in a victory for China as Weijian Zou struck gold in 103.13. 

Zou got the better of compatriot Zhihao Chen by a mere 0.07, while Chinese Taipei’s Jung-Cheng Wu secured bronze. 

The penultimate day of competition saw China enjoy a clean sweep of all the team titles. 

Xueting Xie teamed up with Jie Yang and Yuhan Zou to clinch women’s K1 teams gold. 

Chinese Taipei came second with Kazakhstan taking bronze. 

There was another gold for Liman Huang who joined forces with Xiaofei Luo and Xingqiang Wu to seal the men’s K1 teams crown. 

Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan sealed silver and bronze, respectively. 

Liao led the way for China in the women’s C1 teams as she secured gold alongside Xinyi Zhou and Yanzhi Huang, while Kazakhstan claimed silver. 

Zou also bagged his second gold medal courtesy of his triumph in the men’s C1 teams alongside Chen and Junjie Wang. 

Uzbekistan picked up another silver medal, while the bronze medal went to Chinese Taipei. 

Huang completed his hat-trick in the men’s kayak cross individual when he crossed the finish line in 62.48. 

It was enough to see off the likes of China’s Xingqiang Wu and Japan’s Yu Mishima who clocked 64.31 and 64.39 for the other medals. 

Xie emerged victorious for a third time in the women’s kayak cross individual, powering to the title in 68.01. 

Chinese Taipei took the remaining positions on the podium with Chang crossing in 71.93 for silver and Wu claiming bronze in 75.41. 

Xie’s golden week was completed in the women’s kayak cross as she clinched her fourth title, finishing ahead of Chang and Wu again who ranked second and third, respectively. 

Uzbekistan’s Eigel ended China’s winning streak in the final event of the Asian Championships. 

Eigel swept to the men’s kayak cross crown as compatriot Temirgaliev earned silver and China’s Wu collected bronze.
