Locations and dates have been secured for this year’s International Canoe Federation Stand Up Paddling World Ranking Series.

Lago delle Nazioni in Italy, Sitia and Agios Nikolaos on the Greek island of Crete and Villach in Austria will stage events offering ranking points in the build-up to the 2025 ICF SUP World Championships in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The four exciting events are important steps on the road to the World Championships in Abu Dhabi where paddlers will seek to seal their place at the top of the overall standings in sprint, technical and long-distance.

Like in 2023 and 2024, the series will begin on Italian waters with Lago delle Nazioni staging the Spring SUP Race from April 3 to 6 which will feature sprint, technical and long-distance races.

Attention will then turn to Crete with Sitia hosting an ICF World Cup in technical and sprint from May 1 to 2 before Agios Nikolaos holds an ICF World Ranking Event in technical and long-distance from May 3 to 4.

This will be followed by the SUP Alps Trophy THE LAKE ROCKS, with technical and long-distance races taking place on Lake Faak in Villach, Austria from May 29 to June 1.

Paddlers with enough points will have significant seeding advantages in sprint and technical races at the World Championships, running from October 29 to November 2.

Abu Dhabi will not only see competitors battle it out for the world titles but also tussle for overall ICF SUP World Ranking Series crowns.

Last year saw Kyriaki Logotheti of Greece top the rankings in both the women’s long-distance and women’s technical.

Other series winners included Katniss Paris of the United States in the women’s sprint, Phaedon Doukas of Greece in the men’s sprint, Anastasios Tsouris of Greece in the men’s long-distance and Blue Ewer of Great Britain in the men’s technical.

Registration is open for all five ICF SUP World Ranking Series events including the World Championships.

Noemi Horvath, Chair of the ICF SUP Committee, said: “This year’s ICF World Ranking Series promises to be really special with the World Championships heading to the UAE for the first time.

“It’s great to be returning to Lago delle Nazioni for the first event of the series as they always organise excellent races.

“I’m also looking forward to seeing paddlers in action on the beautiful island of Crete with Sitia and Agios Nikolaos providing superb locations for racing and then go back to Villach for another fantastic Lake Rocks Festival.

“It’s a series of events that will offer opportunities for athletes to test themselves against the very best in SUP as they look to shine on the world stage.
