The International Canoe Federation is delighted to share the detailed Paracanoe competition schedule for the LA28 Paralympic Games.
Paracanoe action will take place from August 24 to 26 in 2028 before the Games officially concludes on August 27.
A total of 10 medal events will be contested in Paracanoe as paddlers set their sights on Paralympic glory in kayak and va’a at the Marine Stadium which forms part of the Long Beach Zone in LA.
The Paracanoe programme will feature men’s KL1, KL2, KL3, VL2 and VL3 as well as women’s KL1, KL2, KL3, VL2 and VL3.
All three days of competition will begin at 9:00 local time, with the session finishing at 11:15 on August 24 and at 12:15 on August 25 and 26.
Medals will be decided in the men’s KL1, men’s KL2, women’s VL2, men’s KL3 and women’s VL3 on August 25.
The final day of Paracanoe competition on August 26 will see medals awarded in the women’s KL1, women’s KL2, men’s VL2, women’s KL3 and men’s VL3.
LA28 will be Paracanoe’s fourth successive appearance at the Paralympic Games after successful showings at Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024.
John Edwards, Chair of the ICF Paracanoe Committee, said: “The road to LA28 is already intensifying, with the first Paralympic Ranking points awarded at our opening World Cup in Brandenburg.
“Every race now carries enormous significance as athletes and nations begin their pursuit of Paralympic qualification.
“We now turn our attention to Montreal, where the competition will rise to another level with our next World Cup.
"Significantly, it will mark the first time a Paracanoe World Cup has been staged outside Europe, underlining the ICF’s commitment to the continued globalisation and growth of the sport.
"Paddlers from around the world will continue battling for crucial ranking points and the honour of representing their country at LA28 in just two years’ time.”
