Belgium’s Gabriel de Coster and France’s Martin Cornu swept to the respective kayak and canoe titles at the International Canoe Federation Canoe Slalom World Ranking event in Epinal, France.
De Coster has been in fine form this season, most recently winning men’s kayak cross individual gold at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup in Prague in June.
And the Belgian topped the podium again when he secured the men’s K1 title in Epinal after clocking 80.44
France’s Mathieu Biazizzo sealed silver in 80.83, with Cornu bagging bronze in 83.04 as a two-second penalty denied Morocco’s Mathis Soudi a medal as he placed fourth with 83.81.
Cornu’s bronze came after capturing the men’s K1 crown at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Ranking event in Prague the previous week.
And he was celebrating another title after demonstrating his skills in C1 in Epinal.
Cornu picked up a two-second penalty but his time of 88.17 was still enough to clinch an impressive victory.
Great Britain’s Peter Linksted claimed silver with 90.30 as Senegal’s Yves Bourhis captured bronze in 90.43.
There was double delight for France in the women’s K1 and C1 events with Nina Pesce-Roue and Romane Prigent emerging victorious.
It was a French one-two in the women’s C1 as Pesce-Roue triumphed in 103.76 and Camille Castyrck claimed silver in 106.04.
The bronze medal went to Germany’s Christin Heydenreich in 108.21.
Prigent came out on top in the women’s K1 final after crossing the finish line in a winning time of 95.62.
The top three all picked up two-second penalties as Germany’s Paulina Pirro secured silver in 97.87 and France’s Clara Delahaye clinched bronze in 104.03.
In the kayak cross events, France’s Lucas Latimier and Great Britain’s Sophie Ogilvie struck gold in the respective men’s and women’s finals.
Latimier crossed first followed by Belgium’s Maxime Aubertin who took silver and De Coster who sealed bronze.
Ogilvie secured top spot with Pirro earning silver and Ukraine’s Oleksandr Horlova bagging bronze.
