Excitement was high as La Seu was getting ready to host the first International Canoe Federation Canoe Slalom World Cup of the season and day 1 did not disappoint.
From a French one-two in the men's category to an emotional title for Slovak Sona Stanovska, here is what the medallists had to say afrer the K1 finals.
Titouan Castryck (FRA - gold)
It's been a long time since I won a race, so I am happy about that and to share it with Anatole was even better. We were not having our best week of training. So we were like, okay, let's forget about that and try to do our best, and I think it worked pretty well.
Anatole Delassus (FRA - silver)
I am super happy. It is a great feeling ahead of the next World Cup in Pau. It is a course that we know very well. It is a big advantage, but we have to be focused and be very good if we want to continue winning.

Lucien Delfour (AUS - bronze)
It was fairly intense for the first race of the year. I've come a long way. This is my first medal since 2019 and my first medal here since 2018. There were a lot of disappointments and struggles, so it's a great feeling.
Sona Stanovska (SVK - gold)
It's incredible. I worked hard and changed many things in my life to achieve the gold medal. I'm happy and it's unbelievable. I knew that I was fast, and I had a really good feeling on the water. I expected to do something good and when I came to the finish, I was first. So it’s perfect.

Camille Prigent (FRA - silver)
It's so cool, I'm really happy. I had some mistakes, so to be able to still get on the podium is pretty cool. I love this place, so I'm really happy to start the season like this. The boys also got medals. I think our team are getting stronger and stronger over the last few years and it's cool to be part of this group.
Monica Doria (AND - bronze)
I'm just really, really happy. It was a really good start to the season in the European Championships and it was a first title for me, which was crazy. To get another medal at home is special. I call it my home because I started paddling here, so I've been here my whole life. There is my family and friends that come to cheer for me, so it's always really special.
