World and European canoe sprint gold medalist Tamara Takacs of Hungary has recorded an anti-doping rule violation and is facing a four year competition ban.

22-year-old Takacs was informed of the breach by the Hungarian Anti-Doping Agency, but has the right of appeal. More details about the test will not be released until the end of the appeal period.

Takacs won gold in the K1 500 at the 2018 U23 canoe sprint world championships, and was also a member of the victorious Hungarian women’s K4 crew at the 2017 ICF world championships.

She also won K1 5000 gold at the 2018 European Championships, and K1 500 and K4 500 golds at the 2017 European titles. She is a junior canoe marathon gold medalist from 2013 and 2014.

Two other Hungarian sprint canoeists have returned positive tests in the past two years. Bence Horvath tested positive in June 2017, while Milan Mozgi failed a test in June last year.
