Nearly every title holder from this year’s ICF Canoe Freestyle World Championships will line up this week at the ICF World Cup in Columbus, Georgia, headed by record-breaking British paddler Ottilie Robinson-Shaw and American multiple world champion, Dane Jackson.
Two season-ending world cups begins on Monday on the Chattahoochee River and run through to this weekend, and have attracted an impressive international field of competitors.
Great Britain’s Robinson-Shaw took the canoe freestyle world by storm at this year’s world championships in Nottingham, Great Britain, completing a clean-sweep of every event she contested and walking away with an incredible three gold medals.

During a hectic week of competition the 20-year-old smashed out a record score in the women’s squirt, won the first ever women’s canoe gold, and then shattered the world championship record score for a single ride on her way to kayak gold.
She also became the first athlete to win three senior gold medals at a single world championships. Among those looking to take up the challenge to Robinson-Shaw in Columbus will be former world champion and this year’s silver medalist, Hitomi Takaku of Japan.
Reigning world champion Dane Jackson overcame a bout of Covid to retain his kayak world title in Nottingham, confirming his status as the greatest male freestyle athlete of all time. The American will confront all the medalists from the world championships in Columbus, with Poland’s Tomasz Czaplicki and Great Britain’s Harry Price both searching to improve on their world title results.
Other world champions in action this week include American canoe decked champion Landon Miller, France’s Tom Dolle, and American men’s squirt title holder, Clay Wright.
