The canoe finals at the 2025 International Canoe Federation Canoe Slalom World Cup in Pau saw Ryan Westley add a debut title to his name as home favourite Nicolas Gestin missed out.

The women’s medal race saw Jessica Fox add gold number two of the season and 35 overall.

Here is what the medallist had to say after a superb Saturday.

Women

Jessica Fox (AUS - gold)
It was a great run. I'm proud of that race. I think it's so satisfying when you can lift in the final and can deliver a better run than on the heats and put pressure on everyone else to challenge that time. I had some key things that I wanted to improve and I felt like I did that. I was quite surprised to see the time. I was thinking if I could do a 109,  that would be a good time, but 105 plus two, you know, it's amazing, so I'm happy and proud of that.

Jessica Fox made it two from two in C1 at the World Cup this season

Gabriela Satkova (CZE - silver)
I'm happy with the result. It's incredible considering I could not compete in the first World Cup. So it was kind of hard to get back into it. But then I'm happy with it. I think the run wasn't perfect, but I'm still very happy. I had to study for my exams in International Business. It went okay. I have the final exam in three weeks, so I am also preparing for that.

Angele Hug (FRA - bronze)
When I finished today, I was a bit sad because of my last gate touch but finally, I'm happy because it's my second medal in this year’s World Cup series. It’s a big thing for me. After the Olympic Games, I was always wondering how to go about slalom and I think, step by step, it’s starting to be good.

Men

Ryan Westley (GBR – gold)
I tend to have a bit of a record of not making that many finals but I seem to go for it and when I'm in them, it seems to come off when I end up with medals. So to go one better than I ever have done before, and on a course like here, it's pretty iconic. I've made some big changes. I moved away from Lee Valley at Christmas and live in South Wales with my wife's family. I've been training in a little venue down there. My whole lifestyle generally is better and this season was kind of my opportunity to prove that it worked.

Yohann Senechault (FRA – silver)
I'm really happy because this is only my second World Cup medal. To do that in my course is crazy and I am happy. The last medal in Ivrea was because I replaced Nico but now I am in the senior team and that feels great.

Miquel Trave (ESP – bronze)
I think it was a good run. I had a hard week of training, but I think I could manage to make a good final. I really that it was going to be close. The French were really good, as well as Ryan Wesley. I knew that all the people who were coming after me could beat my time. It was close. But I'm happy about it.
