This Saturday, 5 August at midday, the amazing International Descent of the River Sella will begin. Following the anthem of Asturias, the traffic light will turn green and 1,239 paddlers representing 23 countries from all over the world will commence their descent of the River Sella.

867 boats will launch at the same time, all with the same crazy desire to paddle until the finish line. Not all will make it, but all are guaranteed to wish to return again for this amazing annual event.

The International Descent of the River Sella forms part of the 2017 ICF Canoe Marathon World Series. Ranking points will be allocated to top finishing paddlers in each category. Latest rankings can be found here.
