Registration has opened for a 10-week intensive training course to elevate the level of Canoe Sprint coaches.
The International Canoe Federation has teamed up with the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) to develop the Canoe Sprint Level 3 Online Expert Coaching Course.
Starting on September 1, this year’s online course is designed to provide expert-level coaching education in Canoe Sprint, combining cutting-edge theoretical knowledge with sport-specific expertise.
Participants in the course will learn from leading HUSS instructors and ICF experts where they will gain in-depth theoretical knowledge in sports science, biomechanics, training methodology, sports psychology and more.
The course consists of a specific module in Canoe Sprint Sport as well as other modules in Science in Sports, Exercise Physiology, Ethics of Sport Coaching, Biomechanics, Training Theory, Sport Psychology, Sport Nutrition, Sport Pedagogy, and Sport Injuries and Prevention.
Andras Szabo, Coaching Programme Development Coordinator for HUSS, said: “There are two very important skills that coaches learn on this course.
“The first is empathy and the second is being open to learn which is key to being able to raise the level of your coaching.”
Toshi Furuya, Chair of the ICF Canoe Sprint Committee, added: “It’s fantastic to continue our long-running partnership with HUSS with this intensive online coaching course.
“This prestigious education programme continues to play an essential role in the development of Canoe Sprint coaches across the world.
“It’s a great opportunity for coaches to learn from the very best, gaining valuable skills to help improve paddlers on and off the water.”
