Ashlee Greaves struck twice as New Zealand overcame hosts Australia A to clinch the women’s title at the Oceania Canoe Polo Championships at Damien Leeding Park, Oxenford.

Australia scored through Anna Thompson but two goals from Greaves secured a 2-1 victory for reigning world champions New Zealand in the Gold Coast.

It could have been an even better day for New Zealand when they came out to tackle Australia A in the men’s final.

Liam Frost and Jacob McLaughlin got on the scoresheet for New Zealand, but it was Australia who came out on top on this occasion.

Adam Hofmeyer netted twice, while Joshua Vivian also got a goal as Australia triumphed 3-2 to seal the men’s crown.

There was also success for both Australia and New Zealand in the under 21 categories at Damien Leeding Park.

Australia clinched top honours in the women’s U21 competition courtesy of a 5-2 win over New Zealand B.

Beth Hewett and Trista Barclay both bagged braces, with Jessica Harmer adding the other, while both of New Zealand’s goals came from Sophie Hazelwood.

There were even more goals scored in a gripping men’s U21 final as New Zealand A defeated New Zealand B 6-5.

George Hunt dispatched two goals, with Oliver Arcus, Tobey Hughes, Rylin Glenny and Noah Jensen also hitting the back of the net in New Zealand A’s stunning triumph.

William Broderick led the scoring for New Zealand B with a hat-trick while Riley Thomson and Jayden Nielsen notched a goal each but it was not enough to secure the bragging rights and the title.
