The 2015 ICF Canoe Freestyle World Championships is set for the infamous Garburator Wave on the Ottawa River in Canada from the 30th August to the 5th September.

This is the second time the championships have visited this iconic stretch of water just outside Canada's southeastern capital of Ottawa; with the first being the disciplines inaugural championships under the auspices of the International Canoe Federation back in 2007.

The Garburator, which is located on the Lorne Rapid, is a first-class launching platform and will provide the perfect wave for the 189 competitors spanning 29 nations that will contest the championships.

Top contenders Claire O’Hara (GBR) and Jordan Poffenberger (USA), who each walked away with a brace of gold medals at the last world championships, are just two of the world-class entry that will aim to showcase their skills on the sports favourite wave.

O’Hara, 33, is the most successful female freestyle paddler of all time with an astonishing seven world titles to her name and will attempt to defend her K1W and Squirt Boat titles in Canada.

Meanwhile Poffenberger, 21, will look to replicate his success in the C1M and OC1M classes.

Another duo aiming for more success are brother and sister, Emily and Dane Jackson who each have multiple-world titles to their name.

The Jackson family is synonymous with the sport; so mush so that since freestyle joined the ICF in 2007, a Jackson has won gold at each of the four World Championships: Eric (father) in 2007, his daughter, Emily, in 2009, then son, Dane, in 2011 and 2013.

The event gets underway on Sunday 30th August with an opening ceremony and the action starts on Monday with the Squirt boats.
