Three-time Olympic champion Tony Estanguet has been proposed for election as an International Olympic Committee (IOC) Member.

Through a vote by correspondence, the IOC Executive Board approved the nomination of Mr Estanguet.

He has been put forward by the IOC Executive Board for election as an IOC Member at the 144th IOC Session, which will take place in Greece from March 18 to 21.

Following the recommendation of the IOC Members Election Commission, Mr Estanguet will be proposed as an independent individual.

According to the IOC, the nomination is possible in accordance with Rule 16.1.1. of the Olympic Charter.

This rule allows for up to seven IOC Members to be elected in special cases without a nationality or National Olympic Committee requirement.

Mr Estanguet was the President of the Paris 2024 Organsing Committee from 2017 to 2024.
