Canoe federations in Nigeria and Armenia are set to benefit from generous donations by two of the International Canoe Federation’s partners.
The Dansprint company has donated an ergomachine to the Nigerian Canoe Federation, while Nelo has provided a K1 paracanoe to the Armenian federation.
Both donations will encourage further growth in canoeing in regions where the sport is growing rapidly. Nelo’s donation to Armenia will allow that country to develop and build a paracanoe program. The local federation previously did not have access to a paracanoe.
The donations from Dansprint and Nelo were presented to the Nigerian and Armenian Federations during this month’s ICF paracanoe and canoe sprint event in Szeged, Hungary.
“We are very fortunate at the ICF to have such loyal and generous partners as Dansprint and Nelo,” the ICF’s sport development manager, Sebastian Cuattrin, said.
“Both companies share with us our vision to support the growth of canoe sports around the world. These donations will help canoeing grow in Nigeria and Armenia, two areas where we know there is already a lot of interest in our sport.
“We are looking forward to soon welcoming more athletes to our events from Nigeria and Armenia. Hopefully these donations will be the incentive that will help an athlete from these regions fulfil their Olympic dream.”
