The canoe program at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics begins in just five days, with the best athletes from around the world finally getting an opportunity to compete on the biggest sporting stage on the globe.

The International Canoe Federation has prepared extensive media guides for both the canoe slalom and the canoe sprint competitions. The guides provide interesting facts and figures from previous Games, and what to look out for in Tokyo.

There are also lists of previous Olympic and world championship medalists, a look at the history of both disciplines, and the basic rules for both slalom and sprint.

And we have compiled a list of athletes to watch out for in each event. We can’t guarantee we have identified the likely medalists, as after all, this is the Olympics.

You can download the canoe slalom Tokyo guide here, and the canoe sprint Tokyo guide here.

And don’t forget to keep an eye on our website for any late schedule or event changes. We also have athlete biographies, likely event entries, and will also provide results and news from Tokyo.
