Time is running out for National Federations to apply to participate in the upcoming Canoe Ocean Racing development camp in Madeira, Portugal.
The application deadline has been extended to August 28, meaning NFs need to act quickly to secure a spot in the International Canoe Federation’s Talent Identification Programme (TIP).
There are just a limited number of places left on the TIP camp that will run from September 27 to October 7.
It will be held alongside the ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Championships and staged at the same venue.
The ICF will run the camp, together with the Host Organising Committee, in a bid to develop the discipline.
The camp will include participation in the World Championships, which will take place from October 4 to 6.
Participants, or their National Federation will be responsible for international travel to Madeira.
All the rest of the expenses will be covered by the ICF and Host Organising Committee.
This includes accommodation, three meals per day, daily local transportation, boat rental and coaching.
If your National Federation is interested in participating in this ICF TIP camp, please submit your application to the ICF with the name of the candidate(s) and a detailed description of him/her.
The ICF Canoe Ocean Racing Committee, together with the ICF development staff, will select the successful candidates as soon as the deadline for entries is over.
Applicants need to be competent surf ski paddlers.
A list of the selected participants will be presented 48 hours after the deadline.
Applications should be sent by email to sebastian.cuattrin@canoeicf.sport and colin.simpkins@canoeicf.com
Colin Simpkins, Chair of the ICF Canoe Ocean Racing Committee, said: “Excitement is building for our World Championships in Madeira.
“It will be a fantastic event and I’m delighted that we will be holding an ICF TIP camp alongside it.
“These camps are really important to the development of the discipline, as successful applicants will receive top coaching advice, while competing against the very best. It will be an amazing experience for all the participants."
