Great Britian’s paddlers dominated on Scottish waters at the International Canoeing Federation Wildwater Canoeing Ranking Race in Grandtully, completing a clean sweep of the medals on offer. 

Athletes from across the UK were joined by international competitors from Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Ireland and Austria, all using the event as key preparation ahead of the Junior and Under 23 European Championships, which will return to the Scottish venue from 12–15 August 2026.

Andrew Crowhurst was the standout performer, claiming victories in both the men’s sprint and classic canoe singles.  

Partnering with experienced paddler Phil Dean, the pair secured gold in the men’s sprint and classic canoe doubles, capping off an exceptional weekend.  

World champions Kerry Christie and Emma Christie continued their good form in Grandtully, capturing gold in the women’s sprint and classic C2.  

In the kayak events, Laura Milne and Freddie Brown claimed gold in the respective women’s and men’s sprint K1, while Freya Pryce and Leon Tomlinson topped the podium in the respective women’s and men’s classic K1.

Thea Cooke impressed as she took gold in the women’s classic C1 and young talent Sophie Cameron proved victorious in the women’s sprint C1.  

In the women’s sprint K1, Milne stormed to gold in 38.33, defeating fellow compatriots Katie Pockington in 38.41, and Emma Christie in 38.67.  

Brown placed first in the men’s sprint K1 in 33.84, finishing ahead of Adam Knox in 34.34, and Eddie Mackintosh in 34.37.  

In the women’s sprint C1, 17-year-old Cameron placed at the top of the podium in 48.04, ahead of Kerry Christie who took silver in 48.71. Elsie Landsborough secured bronze in 51.01.  

The Christie sisters captured gold in the women’s sprint C2 in 40.74. Milne and Pryce took silver in 43.77, as Adrianna Czarnecka and Victoria Murrey rounded off the podium in 44.87. 

Crowhurst powered to his second individual gold in the men’s sprint C1, finishing in 38.05. Silver went to Sebastian Reeves in 40.54, and bronze to Oliver Stegeman in 41.89.  

Crowhurst and Dean captured their first gold of the weekend as a duo in the men’s sprint C2 as they crossed the line in 39.30. Harry Sewell-Catchpole and Eddie Mackintosh took silver in 40.19, as Finn Lovell and Sebastian Reeves completed the podium in 41.03.  

Pryce powered to gold in the women’s classic K1 in 14.21.54, defeating the Christie sisters as Emma finished in 14.27.12, and Kerry in 14.41.50.  

In the men’s classic K1, Tomlinson placed first in 13.18.34, as Sam Stevely paddled to silver in 13.27.13, and Will Stevely in 13.28.14.

Cooke took gold in the women’s classic C1 in 18.16.28 while Thea McCrea took silver as she finished in 18.49.63.  

The Christie sisters captured their second gold, this time in the women’s classic C2, finishing in 18.16.28 as Czarnecka and Murrey captured another silver in 16.34.19.  

Crowhurst captured gold in 15.09.57 in the men’s classic C1, as Reeves caught another silver in 16.03.30, and Nick Boreham paddled to bronze in 16.13.05.  

In the men’s classic C2, Crowhurst and Dean secured their second doubles gold of the day as they finished in 15.09.92. Sewell-Catchpole and Mackintosh repeated their earlier success with a second silver in 15.21.40 as did Lovell and Reeves who rounded off the podium in 15.43.08.
