Great Britain has made a final decision on its canoeing team for Paris 2024, with all four members set to take part in the kayak cross event that will make its Olympic Games debut at the French capital.
The British team includes Olympic medallists Joseph Clarke and Mallory Franklin, 2023 world champion Kimberley Woods and Tokyo 2020 Olympian Adam Burgess.
Clarke won the men’s K1 at Rio 2016 and is a five-time gold medallist at the World Championships, with three of them coming in kayak cross, and the 31-year-old will participate in both disciplines at Paris 2024.
Burgess, a five-time world medallist himself, was initially supposed to participate only in the men’s C1 before the British Olympic Association decided to add kayak cross to his programme.
"I'm delighted that I get the opportunity to race in another event in Paris," Burgess, who missed out on a Tokyo 2020 medal by 0.16 seconds in the C1 event, told Paddle UK.
"It is unexpected but I'm excited to get out there.
"In kayak cross anything can happen, so I’ll make the most of the opportunity and you never know!"

Joining the duo is Franklin, Britain’s most successful female canoeist and a C1 silver medallist at Tokyo 2020.
The seven-time world champion will hope to better her C1 performance in Paris, having missed out on the title against Australian Jessica Fox in the Japanese capital.
Woods, meanwhile, will add to Britain’s kayak cross prowess, having won the World Championships gold in London in 2023.
