Hosts Brazil swept the podium at the Pan American Canoe Ocean Racing Championships in Molokabra.
Alexandre Felipe Nascimento Ferreira and Ariela Cesar Pinto led a Brazilian one-two-three in the respective men’s and women’s competitions on home waters.
The Pan American Canoe Ocean Racing Championships was staged alongside the seventh edition of Molokabra, one of the fastest-growing surfski and outrigger canoe events worldwide.
This year’s event gathered 343 athletes from 12 countries across four continents as competitors enjoyed consistent downwind conditions throughout the week.
After three days of racing, Nascimento Ferreira and Pinto were crowned Pan American champions.
Nascimento Ferreira captured the men’s surfski title after clocking a combined winning time of 6:08:16.

Ariel Alves de Souza clinched silver in 6:19:46, with Marcelo Bosi De Almeida registering a time of 6:21:19 to seal bronze and complete a Brazilian clean sweep.
In the women’s surfski, Pinto struck gold with an impressive time of 7:47:37.
Fellow Brazilians Isabella Scalise and Carmen Lucia da Silva registered 8:24:52 and 8:38:07 for the other two places on the podium.
The Molokabra was a magnificent event with Nascimento Ferreira winning men’s SS1 gold and Tahiti’s Iloha Eychenne clinching the women’s SS1 title.
In the OC1 category, Anna Mathianse of the United States captured the women’s crown, while there was also a superb display from Lucas Bender of Brazil.
Not only did Bender win the men’s OC1 title but also recorded the fastest overall time of the entire event, covering the 32k distance in 1:59:36.
