The ICF Canoe Slalom season kicks off in Augsburg this week, with the first World Cup of the 2023 year.

The organiser of the four-day competition is the association Kanu Schwaben Augsburg (KSA). We are expecting 240 athletes from 43 nations on five continents, who will measure their skills in six disciplines – kayak, canoe and kayak cross, men and women.

As the first Canoe Slalom World Cup competition of the year, it offers an international assessment with a view to the European Games in Krakow at the end of June and the ICF World Championships in London in September.

At the 2022 Canoe Slalom World Championship in Augsburg more than 33,000 spectators cheered on the canoeists from over 50 nations on the days of the competition last year. And this at the "World Heritage Site of Unesco Water Management since 2019 in Augsburg" on the Olympic Canal.

For this wonderfully organised ICF Canoe Slalom World Championship, Augsburg was awarded the 2022 "Paddlers Award" in the category "Event of the Year". The Canoe Slalom World Championships 2022 in Augsburg prevailed in the election against other well-known events such as the Oetz Trophy (Austria), the King of the Alps (Italy) and the North Fork Championships (USA).

The canoe world cup 2022 is not that easy to top again, but the organisers are happy to be able to host an ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup on the Olympic Canal again and invite interested canoe slalom fans from Augsburg, all over Germany and the whole world to visit the Olympic grounds. This is now the 24th World Cup which Kanu Schwaben has organised.
