Lluis Rabaneda
About
Lluis Rabaneda has held the role of Vice President of the International Canoe Federation since his election at the 2021 ICF Congress in Rome, Italy.
He was elected as a Board member of the Spanish Olympic Committee that same year. In November 2024, he was re-elected as Vice President of the ICF at the Congress in Antalya.
In 2005, Mr Rabaneda introduced Canoe Freestyle into the ICF where he was an advisor to the Board until 2006.
A year later, Mr Rabaneda was elected as Chair of the Canoe Freestyle Committee at the 2007 ICF Congress in Hong Kong.
Mr Rabaneda has a wealth of experience as an event organizer in Spain having been the head of the organization of many local, regional, national and international competitions in Canoe Sprint, Canoe Slalom, Canoe Freestyle and Wildwater Canoeing.
Among those events include the ICF Canoe Freestyle World Championships in 2001 and 2019, the ECA Canoe Freestyle European Championships in 2004 and 2008 and the ICF Canoe Freestyle World Cups in 2014 and 2018.
He was also the head organizer of the world qualification event in Barcelona for the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games and the Canoe Sprint competition during the Tarragona 2018 Mediterranean Games.

Sports practised
Mr Rabaneda, who grew up in a valley in the Spanish Pyrenees surrounded by the Noguera Pallaresa River, started paddling in 1982. He competed in Canoe Slalom, Downriver and Canoe Freestyle events until 1994.
Honours
Mr Rabaneda was recognized in 2019 with the Olympic insignia from the Spanish Olympic Committee for outstanding contribution and dedication to the development of canoeing in Spain.
