About  

Greg Smale has been Chair of the ICF Canoe Polo Committee from 2006 to 2014 and then again from 2016 until now.  

As an athlete, he has won laurels at the highest levels, including at the European and World Championships in Canoe Polo.  

A specialist in safeguarding, he has also been a Chief Official at multiple ICF Canoe Polo World Championships and has had a successful stint as coach of the British men’s and women’s teams.  

Career in sports administration 

2006-2014 and 2016-present – Chair of ICF Canoe Polo Commitee 

2019-present – Vice President of British Canoeing, now known as Paddle UK 

2022-present – British Canoeing Events Board Member 

2003-2004 – Member of British Canoe Polo Committee 

Sporting career 

As part of the British Canoe Polo Senior A Team, Smal has won circa 25 international tournaments, including European silver medal in 1993 and a World Championships gold medal in 1994 among podium finishes.
