The International Testing Agency (ITA) has imposed a provisional suspension on Polish paddler Dorota Borowska following an apparent anti-doping rule violation. 

The ITA reports that Borowska returned an Adverse Analytical Finding for the prohibited substance “Clostebol metabolite”. 

Borowska’s sample was collected during a targeted pre-competition test prior to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on June 27, 2024. 

The ITA is leading an independent anti-doping programme for the International Canoe Federation. 

The ITA statement issued on July 16, 2024 reads: “The International Testing Agency (ITA), leading an independent anti-doping program for the International Canoe Federation (ICF), reports that it has imposed a provisional suspension on Polish canoe athlete Dorota Borowska. 

“The ITA reports that a sample collected during a targeted pre-competition test prior to the Olympic Games Paris 2024 on 27 June 2024 from Dorota Borowska has returned an Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF)¹ for the prohibited substance “Clostebol metabolite”. 

“Clostebol metabolite is prohibited under the 2024 WADA Prohibited list as an anabolic androgenic steroid (S1.1).  

“It is prohibited at all times (in-competition and out-of-competition).  

“Further, considering that it is a non-specified substance; a provisional suspension is mandatory under Art 7.4.1 of the ICF Anti-Doping Rules.  

“During the period of provisional suspension the athlete cannot compete in any competition either at the national or international level or any other activity until the resolution of the matter. 

“The athlete has been informed of the case of her provisional suspension.  

“She has to right to request the analysis of the B-sample and a provisional hearing or an expedited final hearing.”
