Luciano Buonfiglio

Luciano Buonfiglio who had been Acting Vice President since June 2023, will now take on the role full-time following his election at the Congress in Antalya. 

He was the ICF Treasurer from 2009 to 2024. 

As well as his duties at the ICF, Mr Buonfiglio is the President of the Italian Canoe Kayak Federation following his election in 2005. 

Mr Buonfiglio, who represented his country in canoe sprint at the Montreal 1976 Olympic Games, is also a member of the Italian Olympic Committee where he served as Vice President and currently is on the National Board of Governors.

1990-2005 – Vice President of the Italian Canoe Kayak Federation 

1999 – President of the Organising Committee of the Canoe Sprint World Championships in Milan 

2003 – President of the Organising Committee of the Canoe Sprint European Championships in Milan 

2005-present – President of the Italian Canoe Kayak Federation 

2009-2024 – Treasurer of the International Canoe Federation 

2013 – Vice President of the Italian Olympic Committee 

2015 – President of the Organising Committee of the Canoe Sprint World Championships in Milan 

2023-present – Vice President of the ICF

Mr Buonfiglio represented the Italian canoe sprint team, winning several national titles, participating in five World Championships and competing in the Montreal 1976 Olympic Games. 

Mr Buonfiglio was awarded the Cavaliere Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana by the Italian President in 1998 and has also been the recipient of the CONI Star Award for Sports Merits.
