The International Canoe Federation Wildwater Canoeing World Cups in Skopje, North Macedonia have been moved to September.
Skopje had originally been set to stage two World Cups in sprint from April 9 to 11 but the competition has now been rescheduled for later in the year.
The ICF can confirm that the new dates for the events are September 26 and 27.
This means that the two Skopje World Cups will take place just five days after the ICF Wildwater Canoeing World Championships which is being held in Ceske Budejovice, Czechia from September 19 to 21.
Skopje is a super location for Wildwater Canoeing
Manuela Gawehn, Chair of the ICF Wildwater Canoeing Committee, said: “This decision has been made to ensure nations from all over the globe can participate in world-class competitions in Ceske Budejovice and Skopje.
“With less than a week separating these major events, it offers an exciting period of racing for our paddlers.
“The move is importantly aligned with ICF’s sustainability objectives as it will cut down on travel for teams especially those from outside of Europe.
“Skopje is a super location for Wildwater Canoeing with experience in organising events so I am confident that they will put on a great competition after what I expect will be a fantastic World Championships in Ceske Budejovice.”
Skopje held the 2023 European Championships and staged the 1975 World Championships, while the North Macedonian organisers also hosted two World Cups in Veles in 2024.
Banja Luka in Bosnia and Herzegovina will stage ICF Wildwater Canoeing World Cups in classic, sprint and mass start from July 11 to 13.
