Paris 2024 Olympic gold medallist Jessica Fox was named Paddler of the Year at Paddle Australia's annual awards earlier this month, as the National Federation celebrated 75 years.   

Fox, who also won the Paddler of the Year - Canoe Slalom award, had a sensational Games in France, winning the women's C1 and K1 titles.  

A flagbearer at the Opening Ceremony in Paris, the six-time Olympic medallist also became the first athlete to win three gold medals at a single International Canoe Federation Canoe Slalom World Cup. 

Paris 2024 was Australia's best-ever Olympic and Paralympic campaign in paddling, with the nation winning four gold, two silver and two bronze medals.   

Curtis McGrath, who won his fourth gold medal at the Paralympics by finishing first in the men’s KL2, claimed the Paralympic Paddler of the Year award. 

Paris 2024 kayak four silver medal-winning team of Riley Fitzsimmons, Jackson Collins, Noah Harvard and Pierre van der Westhuyzen bagged the Team of the Year award.  

Fitzsimmons added the Paddler of the Year - Canoe Sprint, with Myriam Fox taking the Coach of the Year award.

Along with athletes, Paddle Australia also recognised the achievements of volunteers, coaches and administrators.  

“It’s a wonderful community that comes together, from such a broad background, from so many different areas and to be able to get everyone in one room, also celebrating our 75th anniversary as well as our success as a sport,” Paddle Australia President Andrew Trim said.  

“Our Paris Olympic and Paralympic team… I’m not just proud of them for the results but for the way they behave, for the way they carry themselves and for the role models they are.  

“I think we set a wonderful example for all high-performance sports.”
