Excitement is at an all-time high as the last International Canoe Federation Stand Up Paddling World Cup of the year is set to begin tomorrow in Agios Nikolaos, Greece.

The three-day event is also the final opportunity for paddlers in the open, junior and master categories to grab ranking points from the 2024 ICF SUP World Ranking Series.

The points will be crucial in seeding and limiting the number of races at the ICF SUP World Championships in Sarasota in November.

Italy’s Cecilia Pampinella began the season in style, taking the women’s open technical and sprint races on home waters.

Pampinella is also at the top of the sprint ranking points before heading into Agios Nikolaos. The 18-year-old was also sensational in the technical event, topping the charts.

Home favourite Rea Logotheti will try to climb up the ladder in the sprint, trailing Susak Molinero of Spain, who will not be present in Greece, by 37.5 points.

Greek champion Phaedon Doukas, who is seventh overall, will be among the top men’s competitors in action on home waters.

Lithuanian Vadim Korobov and Bulgarian Andrii Kraitor, a multiple world and European champion in Canoe Sprint, will be high on confidence after winning the men’s at the SUP European Championships in Szeged.

With 787.5 points overall in the women's technical, it is a great opportunity for Katnis Paris of the United States to showcase her talents.

A good result in Greece could help her massively at the home World Championships in November.

Paris is also in the top five in the long distance making it all the more interesting.

The focus for the men’s technical race will be on Blue Ewer of Great Britain after his strong show at Lake Rocks, earning 727.5 points.

At 13th overall, he will hope to take advantage of less than 25 points separating him and the top 10.
