The European Canoe Association has appointed new Technical Committee Chairs after an online Board of Directors meeting last week.
Five International Canoe Federation Standing Committee Chairs — Ruud Heijselaar of the Netherlands in Canoe Marathon, Noemi Horvath of Hungary in Stand Up Paddling, Germany's Manuela Gawehn in Wildwater Canoeing and British duo Terry Best in Canoe Freestyle, and Jane Gibson in Anti-doping and Medical — will also be in charge of the respective committees at the continental level.
Other candidates that were appointed were Jovana Stanojevic of Serbia in Canoe Sprint, Colin Woodgate of Great Britain in Canoe Slalom, Robert Weisz of Hungary in Paracanoe, Alberto Baroni of Italy in Canoe Polo, Roberto Liberato of Switzerland in Canoe Ocean Racing, and German Ulrike Schreck in Dragon Boat.
Another German Gabriele Koch is the ECA Recreational Committee Chair.
The call for candidates saw 20 National Federations send 51 names for consideration as Chairs and members of the ECA Technical Committees before the December 10 deadline.
The ECA Board of Directors held a secret ballot to appoint the new Chairs.
The newly appointed Chairs will now recommend the names of the members of their respective committees to the ECA Board for validation.
The online Board meeting held on December 12 also discussed the constitution of the Athletes' Committee and preparations for the 2025 Congress.
