The International Canoe Federation is delighted to strengthen its collaboration with timing and scoring provider IMAS as it aims to enhance the athlete and spectator experience at its events.

The new two-year contract affirms the strong partnership between the two parties, with the shared goal of promoting and developing paddle sports across the world.

Over the next two years, IMAS will be dedicated to the promotion and innovation of timing and scoring services to support TV broadcasts and digital production.

IMAS will provide its expertise in timing and scoring during designated innovation weeks where it is set to work with athletes, technical officials, broadcasters and organisers to test and refine new services.

This will be done with the intent of improving the quality and audience experience of international paddle sports events.

The German-based company will also support the ICF’s efforts to further globalise paddle sports by integrating timing and scoring facilities into venue designs.

This initiative aims to reduce the cost and complexity of event management while also supporting training opportunities.

The new agreement was signed on the sidelines of the ICF Congress in Antalya, Turkiye, earlier this month.

ICF President Thomas Konietzko and Secretary General Richard Pettit were present for the signing, along with IMAS Sales Manager Rano Franz.

“I am delighted to strengthen our collaboration with IMAS,” said Mr Konietzko.

“Over the years, IMAS has been a trusted partner for the ICF with its expertise in timing and scoring enhancing crucial aspects in the delivery of our events to the highest standards.

IMAS ICF partnership 2024 1

“As we strive to further globalise our sport and improve our event delivery under the refined Fit for Future Evolution strategy, it is important we work with IMAS to help drive innovation and keep moving forward.”

IMAS delivers a wide range of services to the ICF, including live timing and results management, athlete performance analytics, event logistics and operations and fan engagement.

“Partnering with the ICF is a significant step for IMAS,” said Mrs Franz.

“It means we have the opportunity to contribute to the global development of canoeing and support the ICF’s mission to grow paddle sports by improving the experience for athletes, coaches and event organisers.

“IMAS’ experience in managing complex national and international events and providing high-quality sports technology services aligns perfectly with the ICF’s goals.

“Together, we aim to drive innovation and growth within the paddling community.

“This partnership allows us to help elevate the profile of canoeing at all levels – from grassroots to elite competition – while also contributing to the sport’s sustainability and global development.”
