The Danish Canoe and Kayak Federation (DKF) has launched its search for a new national coach to help create future medal winners.
The national governing body has said the position requires “leadership qualities such as clarity, determination and motivation” as it looks to find an individual who is “creative, forward-looking and professionally skilled”.
Denmark has participated at every Olympic Games since Canoe Sprint was added to the programme at Berlin 1936.
Emma Aastrand Jorgensen added another medal to Denmark’s Olympic canoeing tally with women’s kayak single 500m bronze at Paris 2024.
Applications for the role of Demark’s national coach must be submitted by October 30.
The DKF said it was dedicated to creating the “world’s best” training environment where “talent development, innovation and a strong performance culture go hand in hand”, winning medals at international championships and at the Olympics.
“We are looking for a national coach who can contribute to realizing this ambition and continue to develop a continuous performance culture where both athletes and coaches strive towards common goals,” a statement from the DKF read.
“You must not only have experience and skills but also the ability to create an environment where the athletes thrive, develop optimally, and where success is a natural part of the culture.
“As the national coach, you must have a passion for leading the world's best training environment, which continuously secures medals for Denmark at the European Championships, World Championships, and Olympics.
“You must be able to create commitment and drive among Denmark's and the world's leading athletes, with a focus on building a training environment where high performance and community are balanced with well-being.
“You are responsible for strategic training planning and optimizing resources for both daily training, training camps, and international competitions.
“The national coach must ensure a healthy balance between performance expectations and athlete well-being in a dynamic and challenging elite sports environment.
“Collaborating with Team Denmark and our power centres is key to creating future medal winners.
“The position requires leadership qualities such as clarity, determination, and motivation.
“You must take the initiative, build and strengthen relationships, and you must be creative, forward-looking, and professionally skilled.
“In everyday life, you are adaptable, create a calm and secure environment, and thrive in a busy and efficient setting.
“Clear communication with athletes, coaches, and sports management is crucial, along with maintaining a timely dialogue with DKF's power centre coaches.
“Your tasks will align with your qualifications and the needs of the elite centre and talent and elite development at DKF.”
