Ukraine was the most successful nation at the European Canoe Association Paracanoe European Championships in Szeged, Hungary.
Three golds and one silver were achieved by the Ukrainian team, while Spain and France also finished with four medals each.
Paracanoe joined Canoe Sprint and Stand Up Paddling at the multi-discipline European Championships.
Nataliia Lahutenko was the first Ukrainian paddler to taste success, winning the women’s VL3 crown on the opening day of Paracanoe finals.
Spain’s Maria Jimenez was second with France’s Elea Charvet completing the podium in third.
There was also delight for Spain’s Juan Valle in the only other Paracanoe final that day as he defended the men’s KL3 200 gold medal.
He finished ahead of Poland’s Mateusz Surwilo and Israel’s Ron Halevi who claimed silver and bronze respectively.
Vladyslav Yepifanov delivered another gold for Ukraine, triumphing in the men’s VL3 200 final as France’s Abel Aber picked up silver and Great Britain’s Stuart Wood collected bronze.
Other winners on the penultimate day of competition included Great Britain’s Ellen Field in the women’s VL2 200, Spain’s Araceli Menduina in the women’s KL3 200 and France’s Remy Boulle in the men’s KL1 200.
Field got the better of Anastasia Miasnikova (AIN) and Italy’s Veronica Biglia, while Menduina overcame France’s Nelia Barbosa and Poland’s Katarzyna Kozikowska to take top spot.
Boulle was half a second faster than Hungary’s Robert Suba while Italy’s Esteban Farias claimed bronze.
Competition concluded on Sunday with three Paracanoe finals.
Mykola Syniuk secured a third gold medal for Ukraine, powering to victory in the men’s KL2 200 final.
Italy’s Christian Volpi sealed silver with Serbia’s Strahinja Bukvic bagging bronze.
There was home success for Katalin Varga as the Hungarian paddler captured the women's KL2 200 crown.
Germany’s Anja Adler was second and Israel’s Talia Eilat finished third.
Portugal’s Norberto Mourao won men's VL 200 gold by just 0.150 seconds from Ukrainian Andrii Kryvchun, while Suba came third.
