An Olympic sport will take place in Augsburg, Germany, from 23rd to 25th June at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup.
Augsburg is the second stop of the five-part series after Prague. Olympians, as well as world and European champions, are all expected to start. With their fans, they once again lend the Eiskanal an incomparable international flair.
From the host Kanu Schwaben Augsburg, Alexander Grimm (Olympiasieger Kajakeiner Peking 2008), Sideris Tasiadis (Olympic silver C1 London 2012) and newcomer Birgit Ohmayer (German champion 2016 C1). Other Augsburger may be nominated by the Bundestrainern later.
On the same weekend (24/25 June) is also Boatercross - for the first time as part of the official ICF program. Four paddlers compete against each other in spectacular races at the same time.
On the last weekend of June, the visitors will also enjoy an entertaining program in the form of a family festival along the Eiskanal. The special attraction on the Eiskanal is that spectators can follow the races up close. It also provides opportunities for personal contacts and for discussion with the athletes.
