Drama unfolded in Duisburg, Germany as the remaining European places were secured for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
The closest call of the day came in the K2W 500m when the Swedish crew edged out Austria in a last minute dash for the line.
In a cruel twist of emotion the duo of Ana Roxana Lehaci and Viktoria Schwarz congratulated each other over the line confident their Olympic dream could continue.
However, as they returned to the pontoon for boat control they were greeted with an outcry from Karin Johansson and Sofia Paldanius (SWE) who were the confirmed winners.
The Spanish duo of Saúl Cravitto and Cristian Toro dominated their 200m dash managing to accrue a comfortable margin over their nearest rivals in the K2 M 200m.
Likewise, Bence Dombvári (HUN) led from the front in his K1 M 1000m Olympic qualifier and crossed the line just ahead of his Roman Anoshkin (RUS); both qualified an Olympic spot for their nations.
The biggest cheer of the morning came for the German athlete, Sabrina Hering (K1 W 500m) who dominated her race in front of the jubilant crowd.
Romania's Leonid Carp and Italy's Carlo Tacchic took the qualification quotas for the C1 M 1000m.
