There is just one week remaining to register to compete at the much-anticipated International Canoe Federation Stand Up Paddling World Championships in the United States.
Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida will be the venue for the ICF’s flagship SUP event from November 20 to 24.
Excitement is continuing to build for the World Championships which will feature a fantastic programme of races.
The event will see the debut of the 100m sprint, which will replace the regular 200m races and will captivate athletes and audiences alike.
There will be a total prize pool of $30,000 up for grabs that will be awarded and distributed equally between men and women.
The number of entries has surpassed 500 as paddlers look to put themselves in contention to secure world titles.
The deadline for registrations for the World Championships is November 5, meaning time is running out to seal a place in Sarasota.
Each competitor represents themselves and is responsible for their own entries and participation.
“I am really excited for this World Championships which is now just less than one month away,” said Noemi Horvath, Chair of the ICF SUP Commission.
“It will be fantastic to see the world’s best SUP athletes come together in Sarasota next month to compete for the sport’s biggest prizes.
“If you haven’t registered already, don’t miss out on the chance to be part of this amazing World Championships.”
The Local Organising Committee has assured that Hurricane Milton which hit Florida earlier this month has not disrupted preparations with the World Championships going ahead as planned.
“We are thrilled to be hosting the 2024 ICF Stand Up Paddleboard World Championship at Nathan Benderson Park,” said Bruce Patenaude, Chief Operating Officer of NBP.
“We look forward to welcoming SUP athletes and spectators from all over the globe to the Sarasota area to compete at our world-class aquatic venue.
“This event will be unlike any other, igniting the entire park and our city with five days of non-stop action and excitement.”
