The Brazilian Canoeing Confederation has confirmed the eight athletes that will represent them in Canoe Sprint and Canoe Slalom at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Their Canoe Sprint team has a big name in Isaquias Guimaraes Queiroz, the reigning C1 1000 Olympic champion.
The four-time Olympic medallist, who is also a seven-time world champion, will compete in the C1 1000 and C2 500 in Paris.
The 30-year-old beat China’s Hao Liu for the C1 1000 gold at Tokyo 2020.
At Rio 2016, he became the first Brazilian athlete to win three medals at a single edition of the Olympic Games, claiming silver in the C1 1000 and C2 1000 and adding a C1 200 bronze to his tally.
Heading to his second Olympics is Jacky Jamael Nascimento Godmann, who will join Queiroz in the C2.
The men’s C1 1000 will also see 18-year-old Mateus Nunes Bastos Dos Santos making his Olympic debut.
An experienced Olympian in Vagner Junior Souta will compete in the men’s K1 1000. Paris 2024 will be the three-time Pan American Games medal winner’s third Olympic Games.
For Brazil’s women, veteran Valdenice Conceicao Do Nascimento will lead the charge. A world bronze medallist in 2014, the 34-year-old will take part in the C1 200.

Ana Paula Vergutz sealed her place in the women's K1 500m. The two-time Pan American Games bronze medallist is heading to her second Olympic Games after making her debut at home in 2016.

The Brazilians can boast a strong Canoe Slalom squad, with both athletes being World Championships medallists.
Ana Satila, kayak cross world champion in 2018, will be a strong contender for the women’s gold medal in Paris.
The five-time Pan American Games champion has also won world titles at junior and U23 level.
Pedro Goncalves, who won world bronze in 2019, has two gold medals at the Pan American Games.
The duo will compete in all events in France.
