The world's best Ocean Racing athletes are descending on the spectacular location of Tahiti as the discipline prepares for the second edition of its World Championships following the premiere in 2013.

With a long history in the sport, Tahiti promises to provide an exceptional event in truly magical surroundings when the completion gets underway this October.

Competitors will battle over a distance of 30 kilometres in a downwind race with the following titles up for grabs: Junior, U23, Masters, Men and Women SS1, and the highly competitive Open class.

South Africa's Sean Rice won the inaugural World Championships and is one of the many confirmed entries in this event; the surfski superstar will certainly be looking to retain the sports top honours.

Others in the hunt for the men's title are Sam Norton (AUS), Barry Lewin (RSA), Yannick Laousse (FRA), and Benoit Le Roux (FRA).

New Zealand's Teneale Hatton, who holds World Champion titles in Canoe Sprint, Canoe Marathon and Ocean Racing, will be a hot favourite in the women's line-up.

Also in the mix is 2013 World Champion, Michelle Eray (RSA).

The race starts in the Marina of Hitia, where all athletes will dash into the ocean at the same time creating a spectacular mass start.

The finish is in the same location with individual classes having separate finish lines across the beach.

Although many world titles will be settle in this event, a special attention will be given for the first seven overall paddlers in the open classes who will aim to gain the lions share of the 15,000 euros prize on offer.

Race will have worldwide streaming and TV coverage (with drone aerial images) and GPS localisation system, for all boats during the race.
